Sustainability

Sustainability is capacity to endure. For humans, it is the potential for long-term maintenance which necessarily involves mainenance of natural world and resources. For the companies, this is stated more bluntly in term of some "triple bottom line," (1)) environmental, (2) social equity, and (3) economic demands. Various efforts are made to evaluate companies as constributing not only to their economic sustainability but also to effect on the environment and social equity.

Below is one effort make to judge sustainabilty. The links to the web pages give not only annual lists but some guide to the changing methodology. Remember changing the "methodology" is is part of what changes USNews college rankings to change from year-to-year and best college football team to change, to name just a few.
