THM: Nuclear power is safe, cheap, sufficient.

Nuclear power's safety is guaranteed by comparison with coal (5 vs 37,000 deaths/year), record of single US incident; safe and long-term storage of nuclear wastes in Yucca Mtn.; and unsuitability of fuel for nuclear weapons.

Nuclear power's cost effectiveness stems from comparison with coal -- its cheap fuel counterbalancing 3 times larger capital costs; 92% online performance; and single, approved design that could take advantage of competitive bidding and common performance experience.

Nuclear power can provide baseload electrical needs with only 200 more reactors -- even a baseload enhanced by load-shifting domestic demand; extend Yucca Mtn. waste storage capacity from 100 to 2000 years.
