In 6-8 double-spaced pages, present your view how US can supply the energy it needs for the next century. We don't expect a comprehsive solution. Rather pick those three (3) energy sources essential for survival.
Don't state the obvious. For example, don't mention continuing to use current hydropower energy unless you would stop using it. But a major increase in the hydropower so that it provided say 40-50% of future electricity, that is part of your plan and counts as one of the three sources. Another example. It seems unlikely that any of the current nuclear power plants can last even 30 years. So if want to use nuclear energy you need to include as part of your plan.
Do make sure the country continues to operate. You must keep it possible for country to be fed, for transportation to be possible, industry and communications to be powered, etc. Here are some trial solutions.
Electric future: Nuclear, coal-fueled electricity, solar for homes and remote locations.
Clear, renewable paradise: Alge/switchgrass, solar, wind. Not our problem: Saudi & Venezuela oil, China coal, Canadian electricity.
