Simple Aliases and Scripts

Aliases

In /net/campbell/13/wilkins/.cshrc.aliase are simple aliases. There may be more than you want. Take a look at xs (for restoring a window), pushd/popd aliases and the alphabetic list.

In /net/campbell/13/wilkins/.cshrc.more are comands mainly for browsing. Instead of an extensive bookmarks (I have seven, two with popups), I use line commands, many for the vt100 browser, lynx.

Scripts (in /net/campbell/13/wilkins/bin)

Wilkins calendar

Usage: scal month day [e.g., scal 8 19]

Gives all entries for that date, even future years.

Printer trays (4100 Smith):

std: lp -d smith4100

osu letterhead: lp -d smith4100/letter

manual: lp -d smith4100/manual

2 pages per sheet and duplex: lp -d smith4100/2by2

a2ps <file.ps> | lpr [ascii file to double column]

a4j <file.ps> [ascii file to two-sided, double column in 4100 printer]

17-point ascii printing

Pc ascii.file [17-point Courier to 4100 Smith printer]

P, Pn, Ps [17-point Roman to 4100, north, and south printers, resp.]

special handling of .dvi files

dvi2tty file.dvi [shows dvi files at ascii on the screen]

Xdp file.dvi [X-window display of dvi file, green on black, edit to taste]

Finding books in Wilkins library

fa author [prints author and title below]

ft title-word [prints title containing word and author above]

Opening new X-windows

NW, NE, SW, SE [in four corners]
