Physics 367 Checklist for Presentations
Write the outline
- Are the important points covered by the outline?
- Are there headings statements of the important points r
ather than topics to be discussed?
- Is the supporting data included in the lower levels of the outline?
- Are the sections labelled with the name of the responsible person?
Prepare the presentation
- Do you have a point to make?
- Do you have supporting data?
- Do you know the costs, both economic and environmental?
- Have you practiced your talk?
Make the overheads/slides
- Are the important points on the overheads?
- Are the supporting data on the overheads?
- Do the overheads have charts (supporting data) and perhaps pictures?
- Is all the text 18 point or larger?
Giving the presentation
- Keep focused on the point -- avoid tangents and trivia.
- Connect with the audience: speak loudly and maintain eye contact.
- Stand away from the projector so that the audience can see the screen.
- Summarize your point or conclusion at the end.
