My name is Geoff Prewett and I've come from the United States to share
a little bit about what God has done in my life.
[This] represents God. The Bible describes Him as light, and
as perfect. He never does anything wrong.
[This]
represents us. The black part around us represents sin, which
is
the bad things we do, like lying and stealing. God hates sin,
because he is perfect, so our sin separates us from him.
I
grew up in a Christian family, but I spent all my time trying to make
myself happy. This lead to some bad attitudes and
eventually
God forced me to have some time to rethink my life. He showed
me
that I was serving Happiness instead of Him. In the Bible,
"to
serve" is often used interchangeably with "to worship," so I was
breaking the first commandment: worship the Lord your God
only.
This was just the first and most important command;
I had
broken plenty of others, too. So I was separated from God,
and as
a result, I did not have much of a relationship with God.
[Evangecube]
But God loves us and wants to be with us. So He
sent Jesus
to die for our sins. Our disobedience requires a punishment,
but
we cannot pay it, so Jesus paid it for us. When I realized
that I
was worshipping something other than God, I thanked God for paying for
my sins through Jesus' death, and stopped seeking Happiness
[Evangecube] Jesus died and was buried in a tomb.
[Evangecube] But after three days God raised him from the
dead to prove that he was God.
[Evangecube]
This is God, and this is us. Because of Jesus'
death, we
can be with God. Remember the separation from before?
The
cross bridges this separation. Once I turned away from
seeking
Happiness, God started being active in
my life. He has been teaching me how to love
others, what it
means to
have His perfect character, and how amazing He is. It has not
always
been easy, but the more I get to know God, the more excited I am to be
with Him forever in Heaven.
[Evangecube] But just knowing
this information does us no good. This, again, represents
God.
Represents Jesus, and he is reaching out to, asking us to
repent
and believe. But we have a choice. We can believe
in Jesus'
death for our sins and repent and be with God in Heaven, or we can
reject God's offer and pay for our sins ourselves in Hell.
Would
you like to accept Jesus' death for your sins?
