Paragraph. Write a paragraph on any topic. I encourage you to use this opportunity to develop a topic for one of the papers. Deliver it by email to me and to Tom Barrett. Due Thursday by 1pm.

Letter to Congress. Write a letter to your congressional representative in which you take a stance on federal research spending. Due in class, Monday September 27.

Requirements for papers.
Topics of short and medium papers are science/engineering for non-technical audience.
Topic of long paper is science/technology policy.

Requirements for talks.
Science/engineering topic of short talk is same as short paper but for a audience of peers.
Two 10-minute talk per class period.
Science/engineering topic of long talk is same as medium paper but for a audience of peers.
Only one 20-minute talk per class period.
