Overview

This page provides links to sample pages designed by potential designers of new and improved Physics web pages. You should look for creative and interesting design as well as layout features and how easy it is to navigate. Please send feedback to Dick Furnstahl (furnstahl.1@osu.edu).

UTS

A team from University Technology Systems (UTS) has designed a variety of pages for OSU. Some examples are given below. We've received the following rough quote from Cindy Gray of UTS:

Reorganization of all content and creating a Web Site Plan:

20 - 22 hours @ $22 per hour = $440 - $484

Design and development of pages:

27 - 30 hours @ $22 per hour = $594 - $660

Ms. Gray has also indicated that UTS may be able to incorporate database interaction into the site design.

Pages for University Communications

• OSU page with student information. Note the banner, navigation with left toc, and rollovers.
• Alumni information. Similar look, with file folder motif. Another example with the same, consistent look is the faculty and staff information page. Yet another: info for prospective students.
• Finally, a different look: Commencement announcement.

Pages for UTS

• University Technology Systems home page. Note the highlighting of a menu item when the mouse points to it and what happens to the globe. These are javascript "mouseover" effects. Follow services to see how extended lists of links are handled.
• Applied Technology Support Services has an ltoc ("left table of contents") without rollovers. Follow some of the links to see how the look of the page and the navigation by the ltoc is maintained.

• The College of Education Placement Services pages give another implementation of a consistent look and feel with ltoc navigation.

WebslingerZ

WebslingerZ is a consulting company specializing in web site design. One of the founders is Mike Strickland, a postdoc in the Nuclear Theory Group.

Mike has given us rough quotes for work on the Department pages. Definite page descriptions would be needed for firm quotes.

• The Elephants of Cameroon is an interactive educational website. Look at the lessons and activities.
