Minutes of the ITS Software Meeting
(CERN, Nov, 16th, 1999)
- The following people were present at the meeting: Barbera, Nilsen,
Vanadia, Virgili, Masera, Beole', Bondila, Turrisi, Carrer, Vannucci,
Bologna, Batyunya (did I forget anybody ?)
- Barbera and Nilsen announced the nomination they got as members, on
behalf of the ITS, of the ALICE Off-line Board
- Barbera and Nilsen reported about the current status of the ITS
geometry. They also reported about the fruitful talk they had with Yves
Andres concerning the CAD files which are now available from the ITS
Off-line Software web pages.
- Barbera reported about the status of the code and made the list of the
short/medium/long term activities
- An active and fruitful discussion followed. At its end the following
tasks/people/schedules combinations were established:
- SLOW SIMULATION: Hits --> Digits
SPD: Batyunya, Caliandro, Virgili, Barbera, Vanadia
SDD: Cerello, Tosello, Bondila, Nilsen
SSD: Boucham, Radomski, Batyunya
Dead line: end of january 2000 (see below)
- SIGNAL ANALYSIS: Digits --> Points
SPD: Batyunya, Caliandro, Barbera, Vanadia
SDD: Cerello, Tosello, Bondila
SSD: Boucham, Radomski
Dead line: mid-february 2000 (see below)
- TRACKING: Points --> Tracks
Kalman filter: Badala', Pappalardo
"Neural": Barbera, Pulvirenti
Track fitting + reconstruction: Barbera, Vannucci, Pulvirenti, Bologna
High-Pt tracking: Radomski and other people from Warsaw already involved
Conformal mapping (fast tracking): Barbera, Vanadia
Dead line: at least one of the above before mid-april 2000 (see below)
- Concerning generators, Barbera suggested to propose to Andreas Morsch
and all relevant people to create a generator to produce samples of
"correlated" pair of particles together with the background for HBT
studies
- IMPORTANT: at the end of the meeting (some people had already left)
Paolo Giubellino came in and reported about some questions raised by the
LHCC referees which should be answered by the simulation. These
questions have been already circulated by me and Bjorn within the list
and will not be re-issued here. The important thing, however, to be
stressed here, is that several decisions must be taken before/at the
next ITS Meeting foreseen at the beginning of february at CERN and this
could have an impact on the dead lines established above.
So, please, everybody let me and Bjorn know about the progress of the
various items of the project. Please, answer to the whole list so that
everybody can get the idea about where we are and what can be done for
the next ITS meeting.
Looking forward for your answers,
ciao
Roberto
