Synthetic Metals, Vol. 123, No. 3

The front cover shows a scanning electron micrograph image of the linearly joined carbon nanotubes of differing diameter fabricated using a well-ordered porous anodic aluminum oxide template. The template was bent, then partially etched by dipping in 0.1 M phosphoric acid solution. This cross-sectional view shows almost perfect vertical alignment with respect to the template. The tubes of the first and second layers are seen together. The larger diameter tube is 60 nm and the smaller one is 30 nm. Some tubes are slightly bent due to the etching of the surrounding template. From Jung Sang Suh, Jin Seung Lee and Hoseong Kim, "Linearly joined carbon nanotubes" page 382.
