According to the OSU course bulletin, Physics 110 "examines the physics of motion set in the context of sports."

Physics 110 is a course in physics. We will discuss physics concepts (force, momentum, acceleration, power) and equations relating them. The focus will not be on derivations, but on how these concepts and simple equations can be used to help us understand sports. These concepts will be taught as we analyze free-throws, football tackles, wrestling, pole-vaulting, home runs, slap-shots,etc.

The hope is that you will leave this course with an improved qualitative understanding of the physics of sports, as well as an appreciation of how scientists apply models to the real world.

If you play sports, in some sense this course helps explain to your mind what your body already knows.
