Do gamma-ray bursts produce the ultrahigh energy cosmic rays?
It is still unknown what can possibly produce the ultrahigh energy cosmic rays that we observe at Earth. This work, completed with Hasan Yuksel, examines the effect of a metallicity-biased GRB rate on the expected flux of GZK neutrinos, assuming that gamma-ray bursts account for the observed UHECR spectrum. The upcoming ANITA, ARIANNA/SalSA, and Auger experiments will be able to examine such a scenario.
