HOW TO UPDATE HARDWARE DATABASE FOR NEW COT DEADWIRES --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Type "setup fer" on any b0dap** machine. 2. Type "java hdwusr.DeadWire &" 3. Click lower RED button labelled "Read in Dead wires from Hardware Database" 4. Click "Print non-zero" to see what's currently set. 5. Enter COT SL (2,4,6 or 8), absolute cell and wire (0-11). Click set DeadWire bit. 6. For many new dead wires, you might want to edit the DeadWireDefaults.txt file in the ~cdf_xft home directory. 7. When done, click "Print non-zero". Do things look right? 8. Click lower RED button labelled "Write Dead wires to Hardware Database". A password box will pop-up - enter your user-name and password for the hardware database. Click Enter. You should see printout scroll by on the terminal as any chages are updated to the hardware database. 9. Check you actually updated the Hardware Database by clicking lower RED button labelled "Read in Dead wires from Hardware Database" again. Click "Print non-zero". Do things look right..
