The University of Illinois particle physics group is a member of two 
astrophysics projects that plan to measure the cosmological dark matter 
and dark energy, the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Large Synoptic 
Survey Telescope (LSST).  I will describe the science that motivates 
these projects and some of the techniques that we plan to use.
