Wilson loops in N=4 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory

Konstantin Zarembo, (Vancouver)

Abstract

Wilson loops in N=4, D=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory admit the string representation in the large-N and large coupling limit via the AdS/CFT correspondence. I will discuss perturbative computations of Wilson loops in N=4 SYM. Though perturbative computations are pertinent to the weak coupling regime, I will show that the sum of an infinite class of ladder diagrams, when extrapolated to the strong coupling, produces results characteristic of the AdS/CFT predictions. For circular loops, this sum of is conjectured to give an exact result.
