Single Top Quark Production via the Weak Interaction

Scott S. Willenbrock (UIUC)

Abstract

At a hadron collider, top quarks are mostly produced in pairs, via the strong interaction. However, a significant number of top quarks are produced singly, via the weak interaction. I discuss the outlook for the discovery and measurement of single top quark production at the Tevatron and the LHC, and the status of the relevant theoretical calculations.
