Brane-Antibrane Constructions

Abstract

In string theory, branes and antibranes can annihilate into vacuum like particles and antiparticles, but they can also annihilate into lower-dimensional branes. In this talk I will review some of these notions and then consider more general configurations of intersecting branes and antibranes, where novel physical phenomena can take place. This includes repulsion between branes and antibranes, and the existence of new types of stable configurations.
