I have posted a few midterm review sheets with the
Lecture Notes below. You can bring these to the
midterm exam if you want. You should also bring a pencil (or pencils), an
eraser, and blank sheets of paper to write your solutions on during the exam.
In addition to the midterm review sheets, you are allowed one "cheat sheet" --
a letter-size piece of paper on which you can write, IN YOUR OWN HANDWRITING,
anything you want that you deem possibly helpful during the exam. You can use
both front and back sides of the "cheat sheet". No other means are allowed in
the exam room -- no text books, no pocket calculators. The exam starts at
1:30pm sharp and ends at 3:18pm sharp.

before class on Friday.

Please read to the end of Chapter 4 in Shankar
before class on Wednesday.

I will not go through Chapter 2 in class,
so please read Chapter 3 first (so that you are prepared for Monday's lecture)
and catch up on Chapter 2 as soon as you can.

Starting from HW2, the deadline for handing in homeworks is
Friday, 1:00pm (or earlier) in Biao Huang's
office.
- 5-Oct-2011 --- Note that Exercise 1.8.8 in Shankar has a typo in part (2):
It should read M^i M^j = - M^j M^i (different indices on both the left and
right hand side of the equation).

Homeworks are usually assigned on Wednesdays and due at 1:00 pm
on Friday of the following week. Please deliver them to PRB M2043
(Biao Huang's office), sliding them under the door if the office is locked.
You can, of course, turn in the homework any time before the deadline, but
note that NO LATE HOMEWORK IS ACCEPTED! If you cannot come to the PRB on
the due date, please hand the homework in early. In case
of emergency (illness etc.) when you anticipate that you will not be able
to finish the homework in time, you must send me an email or call me
BEFORE the due date so that alternate arrangements can be made. No
homework nor excuses will be accepted after the due date. (Solutions are
password protected, they are for the use of OSU students and faculty only,
please write to me if you belong to that group and are interested in
accessing them.)
