How do I find out the screen resolution?
You can find out what your X server thinks your dpi (dots per inch) settings are by running xdpyinfo:
  $ xdpyinfo | grep resolution
You can also find out the number of pixels and the physical dimensions in millimeters with:
  $ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions
