Atomic and Molecular Physics

Winter Quarter 2003

Professor: Eric Herbst (herbst@mps.ohio-state.edu)

Designed for graduate students, this course contains a detailed study of the rotational spectroscopy of gas-phase molecules and its application to molecular astronomy. Some of the topics to be considered are: diatomic molecules, symmetric tops, asymmetric tops, internal rotors, pressure broadening, radioastronomy, and interstellar chemistry.

A detailed schedule of lectures can be found in the syllabus .... Homework assignments and answers to these assignments along with other valuable information can be found on the course home page.
