This story begins in the unusually flat kingdom of Illinois
. In this unusally flat land there dwelled a wise and powerful king -- King Bob
. Since King Bob was a very wise and powerful king (who lived in an unusually flat land), he decreed that he would lead a pilgrimage to the far off land of Arizona. Now Arizona is very different from the unusually flat kingdom of Illinois. In fact Arizona is so un-flat that people come from far far away just too look at it, and marvel at how large and un-flat it is. Having made his decree, the wise and powerful King Bob gather his court jeters, Don
and Jeremy
, assembled his courtiers, and set off for the land of Arizona.
King Bob knew that it would be a long and arduous trip. He split his party into two groups, bade that they control their bodily functions, and set a fast pace. The groups brought little in the way of fortifications, and had often to stop and forrage. These were difficult times for the group, for the wise and powerful King Bob did not like delays, and had them forage on the meager grounds of Wendy's or Macdonald's.
At long last the wise and powerful King Bob brought his party to the fabled land of Arizona. It was all that they had imagined. As oposed to the unusual flatness of Illinois, there were great mountains leading into the air, and great canyons
cutting deep into the earth. Upon reaching the land of Arizona, the King brought his courtiers to the hamlets of Flagstaff and Sedona. It was a welcome change from the many long days of travel.
Of course King Bob had not travelled far from his unusually flat kingdom of Illinois just to eat pancakes in Sedona. He had higher goals, so they set off to visit Sliderock where a great hermit
lived and meditated. Reaching the hermit involved much struggle.
Many miles they marched up the banks and through the middle of the mystical Sliderock.
The water was as cold as ice
,
the current strong
,
and the rocks dangerously slippery
. The group surpassed obstacles too numerous to mention.
