[Side note: this archetype is basically an attempt to generate the Street Fighter arcade characters, but it is written to more or less fit in with the current RPG setting. I tweaked it in 2003 to fix some nagging issues.] CHI WARRIOR "Only wimps need guns!" You are from an alternate history, although to you the current timeline is the "alternate" one. In your home timeline, a group of monks known as the Guiding Hand seized control of the world nearly two millenia ago [see "The Hand Take 69 A.D."] and you were one of many faceless gladiators in the arenas of the warlords of the 1990s. Your chi powers were such that you actually entertained illusions of becoming a champion, but you were still far from that goal. When your warlord discovered the existence of the Netherworld (from old documents, or displaced innerwalkers), he sent you and your mates to investigate, once and for all letting you know your place in things: expendable. You never found your way home, for when you emerged in the present time again it was no longer the same. You have since found that this was a "critical shift," with the Hand losing control of their throne in the distant past. Some of your companions turned to making a living on the brutal street fighting circuit, others became bodyguards for high- placed Netherworld powers, but most have been working to try and restore your home time to existance. You, however, have some reason to want to preserve this brave new world. Perhaps you simply prefer the freedom you now have. Or maybe you have found a lover who would be impossible for a lowly gladiator to dally with in your home reality. But you have joined with others who want to see things stay where they are. Your powers may not be as strong in this new world, but they're strong enough.... Juncture: Netherworld (alternate contemporary) Attributes: Bod 7 Chi 2 (Fu =6) Mnd 5 Ref 5 Add 3 to one Primary attribute, 1 to another. Spend 3 points in any way among Secondary attributes. No attribute may exceed 10. Skills: Martial Arts +9 (=14) Info/Netherworld +2 (7) Shaping 1 Add 3 skill bonuses, which may add new skills. Schticks: Any three Fu schticks Weapons: None Unique Schtick: Chi Blast. Like the Blast Schtick from Sorcery, it uses Martial Arts minus 2 as its AV and base damage. The character may have one Blast Special Effect from the following list: Chi, Fire, Ice, Lightning or Steam. This ability is affected by Fu Juncture Modifiers. Unique Schtick: Shaping. Chi Warriors were all attuned to their training dojos, so start with at least Shaping 1. Skill bonuses may be spent to raise this up to 4 to represent warriors who trained many places. Quick Schtick Pick: Bite of the Dragon, Breath of the Dragon, Claw of the Dragon, Fire effect. Limitation: Aside from all the problems of being a person without a past, you're also almost inhuman in appearance. Whether you have muscles sculpted to a repulsive degree or litheness that makes you like a human willow switch, you have been bred for fighting and it shows. While reactions will not be as strong as against Abominations and untransformed Supernatural Creatures, you will stand out. Wealth Level: Poor (although you may make a lot of money as a ring fighter, you have no identity and cannot enjoy wealth much)
