"Breaking the tyranny of copper: the emergence of a new generation of high-Tc superconductors based on iron"

David Mandrus

Oak Ridge National Laboratory

The discovery of a new family of layered iron-based high-Tc superconductors has taken the materials physics community by storm. In this talk I will first give a broad overview of the materials systems in which superconductivity has been found, and then discuss recent work from ORNL including some of the first neutron scattering results from the Spallation Neutron Source.
