CCAPP Symposium April 4-6, 2011

CCAPP Symposium 2011 / and Workshop on Supernovae physics potential of c urrent and next generation neutrino detectors
Supernova neutrinos are vitally important as they dominate the supernova energetics, and provide a window on the inner workings of core collapses. The observation of neutrinos from SN1987A has shown how indispensable this data is. We will review and explore new capabilities of operating neutrino detectors and the data they produ ce. We will further discuss the potential of next generation neutrino detectors (Water-cherenkov, Liquid Argon, ...).

CCAPP Symposium Public Lecture, April 4, 2011

The Era of International Space Station Research: Discoveries and Potential of an Unprecedented Laboratory in Space The assembly of the International Space Station was completed in early 2011. Its largest research instrument, the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer is planned for launch i n late April. Unlike any previous laboratory in space, the ISS offers a long term platform where scientists can operate experiments rapidly after developing a new re search question, and extend their experiments based on early results.
Speaker: Julie A. Robinson, Ph.D. --(International Space Station Program Scientist, NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX)

2nd Mini-Workshop Novel Searches for Dark Matter July 5-6, 2010

The Center for Cosmology and Astro-Particle Physics (CCAPP) at The Ohio Sta te University (OSU) is holding a second mini-workshop on "Novel Searches for Dark Matter with Neutrino Telescopes" in Columbus, Ohio on July 5-6, 2010.
The main focus of the workshop will be on developing new techniques to search for signals of dark matter as well as how to interpret signal and correlate different m essengers. We will bring together experts from experimental and theoretical particle astrophysics to present updates on the capabilities of IceCube/DeepCore, Fermi, Super-K, and KM3Net and to cover recent theoretical developments. The aim of the workshop is to generate new ideas for how to best exploit dark matter signals.

Selected other events

10th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop June 14 - 16, 2010

10th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop (GLCW X) from Monday June 14th to Wednesday June 16th in Chicago, IL As is tradition, the Workshop provides a forum for advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and young faculty from the Great Lakes region working on all areas of cosmology and particle-astrophysics. More senior faculty will provide useful overviews.
Invited Talk: "Neutrino Telescopes and the Hunt for Dark Matter"(pdf)
