writing the outline
- are the important points covered by the outline?
- are the headings statements of the important points rather than topics to be discussed?
- is the supporting data included in the lower levels of the outline?
- are the sections labelled with the name of the responsible person?
preparing for the presentation
- do you have a point to make?
- do you have supporting data?
- do you know about the costs, both economic and environmental?
- have you practiced your talk?
making the overheads
- are the important points on the overheads?
- are the supporting data on the overheads?
- do the overheads have charts (supporting data) and perhaps pictures?
- is all the text 18 point or larger?
during the presentation
- keep focused on the point -- avoid tangents and trivia.
- connect with the audience: speak loudly and maintain eye contact.
- stand away from the projector so that the audience can see the screen.
- summarize your point or conclusion at the end.
writing the summary
- is the paper focused on the point?
- does the paper have a title, an introduction, and a conclusion which reflect the point?
- does the paper include the supporting data and examples?
- are the references attached?
