writing the outline

• are the important points covered by the outline?
• are the headings statements of the important points rather than topics to be discussed?
• is the supporting data included in the lower levels of the outline?
• are the sections labelled with the name of the responsible person?

preparing for the presentation

• do you have a point to make?
• do you have supporting data?
• do you know about the costs, both economic and environmental?
• have you practiced your talk?

making the overheads

• are the important points on the overheads?
• are the supporting data on the overheads?
• do the overheads have charts (supporting data) and perhaps pictures?
• is all the text 18 point or larger?

during the presentation

• keep focused on the point -- avoid tangents and trivia.
• connect with the audience: speak loudly and maintain eye contact.
• stand away from the projector so that the audience can see the screen.
• summarize your point or conclusion at the end.

writing the summary

• is the paper focused on the point?
• does the paper have a title, an introduction, and a conclusion which reflect the point?
• does the paper include the supporting data and examples?
• are the references attached?
