Materials Science
The first of the two talks which I gave a few years ago
at the Max Planck Institut in Stuttgart, Germany, describes
projects that our group here at OSU has been involved in.
While the talk isn't quite up to date, it gives you a good
idea what kind of optical properties one can study using
``nearly first-principles'' calculations. It also describes
some of the non-trivial problems that you may run into when
you do optical response calculations. The second talk
was my thesis defense talk. It gives you an overview over
the connection between quasiparticle calculations and optical
response which is one of the topics that I studied during
my PhD.
