Autumn 2010 Meeting Notes:
    September 10, 2010
    • Brainstorming ideas for the new academic year, including movie or bowling nights, and possible speakers for Discussion Nights.

    • The next Movie Night is scheduled for October 20, 2010. We will be watching "Up".
    • The next Discussion Night is scheduled for October 28th at 5:30pm in the Smith Seminar Room. The speaker is Dr.Jesser from the Women Studies Department.

    • We are planning a bake sale to raise money for SWiP.
    • We discussed the possibility of having a video game tournament as a fundrasier for SWiP.

    • The SWiP Bake Sale is scheduled for November 31st.
    • SWiP plans to collaborate with the Graduate Women in Physics group beginning winter quarter 2011.

Winter 2011 Meeting Notes:
    January 11, 2011
    • Our meeting schedule for winter quarter will be the first and third Tuesdays of every month, starting next week. The meetings are scheduled for 3:30 on Tuesdays.
    • Another bake sale will be held during winter quarter. We are discussing a Valentine's Day theme.
    • We started discussing the 2011 GRASP Summer Camp.

    January 18, 2011
    • We found out additional information about the video game tournament. If we decide to host it, it will be located in the atrium of the PRB.
    • Still searching for funding for the 2011 GRASP summer camp. Our hope is to host two sessions again this year.

Winter 2010 Meeting Notes:
    February 19, 2010
    • Planning for the 2010 GRASP Summer Camp is now on the way. So far we have 18 girls registered. The camp is scheduled for June 14-18.
    • Our next Discussion Night is scheduled for Wednesday March 3, 2010 at 5:30pm in the Smith Seminar Room. Dr. Joan Herbers from EEOB will be joining us.

    March 9, 2010
    • We have 26 students registered for GRASP. The group decided to take the camp to COSI instead of the Air Force Museum this year.
    • We are hoping to order SWiP shirts for the group members as soon as we recieve a check from the SOURCE.

Autumn 2009 Meeting Notes:
    October 27, 2009
    • We're continuing to plan for the 3rd Annual Midwest Women in Physics Conference scheduled for January 15-17, 2010.
    • The first SWiP Movie Night of the academic year is going to be on October 28th at 8:00pm. We're watching "Hocus Pocus". Email one of the officers for more details.
    • We looking in to making SWiP sweatshirts for the members of the organization. More details are to come.

    September 29, 2009
    • The 2nd Annual GRASP Summer Camp was another sucess, so we plan to host the 3rd Annual GRASP Summer Camp in June 2010
    • We're planning to have a Society of Women in Physics discussion night sometime in the next few weeks to talk about the goals of the society for this year and to especially welcome incoming female freshemn ot the Department of Physics.
    • The next bi-weekly meeting is scheduled for October 27th.
Winter 2009 Meeting Notes:
    February 24, 2009
    • We've started advertising for GRASP, and we already have a few applicants. We are also planning on advertising at this year's Women in Science Day on March 19th.
    • On Tuesday, February 17th, we had our 2nd movie night. We watched "Wizard of Oz" and enjoyed pizza and cookies. The 3rd movie night will be held in mid March.
    • Our first formal meeting took place on February 23rd. Both Graduate and Undergraduate women in physics were invited to this event which was very successful. We are planning to have formal meetings once a month.

    • The planning for the GRASP summer camp is well on its way. Advertisements should start appearing soon.
    • We are planning to have a formal meeting on Monday February 23rd at 5:30pm in the PRB, but this date is not yet set. Stay tuned for more information.
    • The next movie night is Tuesday February 17th at 7:00pm.
    January 27, 2009
    • The registration for the GRASP summer camp is now open and can be found at: http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/undergrad/GRASP/Application.php.
    • After attending the Women in Physics Conference at the University of Illinois, we are inspired to do a little more research on women in math and science. The organization plans to read books and articles and discuss them at the meetings.
    • The Women in Physics Organization changed its name to the Society of Women in Physics. We hope the new name will inspire more undergraduates to join as well as graduate students, staff, and faculty of the department.

    January 13, 2009
    • Continue brainstorming for activities for the 2009 GRASP Summer Camp. Possible activities include: basketball, swimming, football, ice skating, climbing wall, and softball.
    • This weekend 5 of us will be travelling to the University of Illinois for the 2nd annual Midwest Women in Physics Conference. We are looking foward to the trip. Our notes and pictures from the conference will be posted on the website early next week.
    • The 2nd movie night will be held Tuesday January 20th at 7:00pm at Amy's house.
    • We want to have a female physicist come to campus winter quarter to talk about her research and experiences in the field. If anyone has suggestions on possible speakers, please let us know.

Autumn 2008 Meeting Notes:
    October 28, 2008
    • The first Women in Physics movie night will be Monday November 17th at 7:00pm at Amy's house. There will be snacks, movies, and games, so come and join us!
    • The 2nd annual Midwest Women in Physics Conference will be held January 16-18, 2009 at the University of Illinois. The organization is planning to attend this conference.
    • We are currently looking for a vice president or secretary for the organization.
