Girls Reaching to Achieve in Sports & Physics (GRASP)

2013 GRASP Activities - Wednesday June 5 & 19

  Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday

In the morning, Dr. Shawna Hollen taught the girls about the physics of football. Here, she is demonstrating why one must use speed to tackle a player. If she hits the board quickly, it will break. Instead, if she applies force over a long period of time, the board does not break.
The campers made catapults and tested them to see who's catapult could launch gummy bears and marshmallows the furthest.
After lunch, the campers met up with OSU football players who taught them the basics of football. Pictured here is OSU football player Chris Carter.
