Girls Reaching to Achieve in Sports & Physics (GRASP)

2009 GRASP Activities - Monday June 22

  Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday

Professor Hughes gave a lecture and demonstration on projectile motion.
After Dr. Hughes' presentation, the GRASP participants volunteered in the classic "shoot the monkey" demonstration.
After learning about projectile motion with Dr. Hughes, the girls made catapults using only popsicle sticks, glue, and rubber bands.
When the catapults were complete, we had a contest to see who could launch gummie bears and marshmallows the furthest and most accurately.
In the afternoon, we met up with a few OSU football players, who gave the GRASP participants a lesson on how to properly kick and throw a football.
The girls tested their new skills during a game of flag football.
