Teach For America
Teach For America is a program that is open to all academic majors. It places high-achieving recent college graduates in low income communities across the country to give students the opportunity to succeed. Full-salary and full-benefits are available to all accepted applicants. Accepted applicants have the chance to affect the lives of many of the 13 million children who do not have equal access to education and are growing up in low income communities today.

The program also offers several financial benefits:

    • Full salary and health benefits: Salaries range from $27,000 to $47,000, depending on the placement region.

    • Transitional expenses and no-interest loans: Teach For America offers no-interest loans and transitional grants ranging from $1,000 to $6,000. Packages are designed to help those who are accepted cover moving and start-up expenses and are based on demonstrated need and cost of living in the assigned placement. Teach For America also covers food and housing during the summer of transition.

    • Americorps education awards: Teach For America is currently a member of Americorps, the national service network. All corps members who have not previously received Americorps awards are eligible to receive and education award of $4,725 at the end of each year of teaching, totaling $9,450 over two years.
