Class Policies & Requirements

Here is the course syllabus that was handed out the first day of class.

Policies

This is a pass/fail course. Satisfactory completion of the course requires:

  • Attendance at 6 of the possible 8 speaker presentations.
  • 6 completed speaker surveys.
  • Submission of a plan for completing your Physics/ Engineering Physics degree including the Option/Concentration you are pursuing. The plan MUST be filled in on the Excel spreadsheet provided and submitted electronically by Friday December 4 by 4 p.m. ALL STUDENTS, INDEPENDENT OF RANK OR PROGRAM STATUS MUST COMPLETE THIS TO RECEIVE A SATISFACTORY GRADE IN THE CLASS.

Requirements

For each Speaker:

  • Attend the presentation and pay attention
  • Complete a speaker survey. Turn in the survey BEFORE you leave class. Blank survey sheets will be handed to you on the first day of class, please bring them with you to class for the rest of the quarter. If you lose the survey sheets, blank copies can be downloaded from the link below. The answers are kept in your file so we know a bit about your likes and dislikes and an anonymous copy is sent to the speaker.

At the end of the quarter:

  • Attend the last session of class
  • Complete an academic plan on the Excel workbook provided below. Instructions are given in the workbook and also in the link below. If you have any questions about this assignment, please contact Lindsey Perry.
  • ONLY ELECTRONIC submission of the Excel workbook below will be acceptable (we don't have the personnel to hand transcribe your info in various formats to our database - sorry).
  • Please remember to include which Option (A-F) or which Engineering Concentration (Aeronautical through Nuclear) you are pursuing for your degree.
