High Tc Superconductors:
Recent Progress and Open Questions
Mohit Randeria
Department of Theoretical Physics
Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
The high Tc superconductors are systems of strongly interacting electrons exhibiting unusual phases, phase transitions and crossovers, whose theoretical description poses a challenge for the existing paradigms of solid state physics. I will give an introduction to the main issues, giving examples of experimental and theoretical advances. I will conclude by describing some of my recent work which gives detailed insights into the unusual superconducting ground state and low-lying excitations.
