Physics Department News

The Graduate Women in Physics (GWiP) is sponsoring a new Mentoring Program for undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.

The goals of the program are:

1. To develop activities, and to establish one-on-one relationships that promote a sense of community and a support system amongst the women in the physics department at the Ohio State University.

2. To provide an outlet for discussion of the following topics:

• Professional development and career options for a woman in science

• Insights into the life as a research scientist, graduate student, post-doctoral researcher, faculty member, etc.

• Balancing research, class work, and a family, social life, or extracurricular activities

• Information and advice on applying to graduate schools, post-doctoral research positions, industry jobs, fellowships, scholarships, etc. in a one-on-one, as well as group-discussion, format.

Who will be involved:

• Graduate students

• Undergraduate students

• Postdoctoral researchers

  in the physics department and in other mathematical, engineering and physical sciences departments at the Ohio State University
