The Department of Physics is presenting a 2005 Cross Border Workshop on Laser Science, from 3 p.m. Thursday (6-23)-noon Saturday (6/25) in the Physics Research Building. The workshop is the sixth in an annual series that began in 1999 to bring together scientists, including students and postdoctoral fellows, from around the Great Lakes region of Canada and the U.S. to work and interact in an informal setting where questions, debate and discussion are encouraged and form the backbone of the workshop. Attendees come from the optics and photonics community (very broadly defined) and meet to discuss fundamental science and application in physics, chemistry and biology. The theme of this year's workshop is Extreme Science: Intense, Fast and Short.
