Detecting Human Induced Climate Change: Insights from the Paleoclimate Record
Michael E. Mann
University of Virginia
I will discuss both theoretical and empirical approaches to characterizing the behavior of the global climate on timescales of decades to millennia. Predictions of theoretical climate models will be compared to empirical paleoreconstructions of past climate change to assess the internal consistency between these two approaches. I will discuss the implications of these predictions for the detection of human influence on modern climate change.
