Welcome to the combined Richard Freeman and Linn van Woerkom High Energy Density Physics research group at the Department of Physics at The Ohio state University.  Our research is in the field of Atomic, Molecular and Optical (AMO) physics.  We study the interactions between various forms of matter and ultra-short, ultra-intense laser pulses.  Please browse through our site and look at the physics we study, current projects we are working on, and the people in our group.  In addition, if you are interested in learning about how our research is being applied to the study of fast ignition fusion for future energy production purposes, follow the fast fusion link.
