Molecular Mechanisms of Synaptic Plasticity

Who:  Shaojun Tang - (UC Irvine)
Where:  Robert Smith seminar room, 1080 Physics Research Building
When:  Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 02:30
Type:  Biophysics Seminar

Description: Plastic changes of synapses are essential for processing and storing information in the brain. Previous studies demonstrated a critical role of gene transcription and protein synthesis in synaptic plasticity. I will describe our recent studies on charactering genes related to synaptic plasticity and mechanisms underlying activity-regulated protein synthesis in neuronal dendrites.
