Getting from Geneva airport to CERN

I can never remember how to get to CERN from GVA, so here is a reminder.
  1. Buy a ticket from the machine (outside near the bus stop) which is good for 1 hour's riding in Geneva. This is the most commonly-bought ticket, so they even circle that button in red to make it easy
It costs 3 Swiss Francs (as of April 2007); you will need coins for that.

  2. You take the 10 bus from the airport "in the right-hand direction" as you exit the airport. You ride for about 15 minutes and transfer to the 9 bus at one of the spots which are marked on the map at the bottom of this page.

Make sure the sign on the front of the bus says CERN (not Gare Zimeysa). If it doesn't, then just wait for the next #9 bus.

  3. CERN is at the end of the line (another 15-minute ride).

Our office is in building 12, right inside the entrance gate on the right-hand side.

  4. See you there!

Here you see the relevant part of the (extensive) Geneva bus system

Here you see just the two relevant lines, and some of the stops where you can transfer

The home page of the Geneva bus/train system is here. It has schedules etc
