My research interests involve the use of IR surface plasmons on metallic mesh arrays to obtain enhanced IR absorption spectra of surface molecules. These studies reveal the quantity, shape, orientation, and kinetics of molecules on surfaces. Self-assembled nanocoatings can be characterized in this way and we have been creating nanoconstructions within microchannels (scaffolding for nanotechnolgy). Among other things, these phenomena can be used to control the flow of light through micro and nanospaces. |
