RE: New Financial Conflict of Interest Policy for Faculty
New Faculty Policy on Paid External Consulting
Late in the last academic year the University Senate and the
Board of Trustees approved the two new faculty policies noted above. In a
July 13,1998 memo to Deans, Directors and Department Chairs, Provost Sisson
and Interim Vice President for Research Baeslack announced Board approval of
these policies but noted that implementation would be deferred until
appropriate procedures could be developed for administering the new
Financial Conflict of Interest Policy.
With this message I am announcing implementation of these policies. A
new annual screening process for the Financial Conflict of Interest
Policy will be implemented this month. Tenure initiating unit heads
and regional campus deans will be receiving new screening forms and
instructions for their use shortly.
The following individuals will carry out roles established
by the Financial Conflicts of Interest Policy Implementation Procedures.
Nancy M. Rudd, Vice Provost for Academic Policy and Human Resources, has
been designated to perform the Provost's responsibilities under the policy;
Lynne E. Olson, Research Integrity Officer, has been designated to perform
the responsibilities of conflicts administrator; and Todd Guttman, Associate
Legal Counsel, has been designated to perform the functions of the conflicts
of interest legal adviser.
The policies, as well as other relevant documents, are
available at the web links listed below. Please note that faculty with
University Extension appointments are subject to the provisions of the OSU
Extension Consulting and Conflict of Interest Policy.
